The Reality Behind U Home 5G Umobile: Is It Truly the Fastest?

Recently, I purchased the highly advertised U Home 5G, which promised lightning-fast 4G speeds. According to their website, users could expect fiber-like speed of up to 100 Mbps. This claim initially piqued my interest, but my experience has not lived up to those expectations. Perhaps their promises apply solely to the 5G network, but my benchmarks tell a different story [4G rural area].

Benchmark Results:
Here’s a detailed look at the benchmark tests I conducted:

1. Fast.com:

- Latency (Unloaded): 71 ms

- Latency (Loaded): 1.2 s

-  Download Speed: 9.1 Mbps

2. Cloudflare:

- Download Speed: 11.4 Mbps

- Upload Speed: 4.03 Mbps

- Latency: 228 ms (min), 274 ms (avg), 904 ms (max)

- Jitter: 33.0 ms (min), 115 ms (avg), 202 ms (max)

3. Ookla Speedtest:

- Download Speed: 21.77 Mbps

- Upload Speed: 3.19 Mbps

- Ping: 59 ms (min), 136 ms (avg), 170 ms (max)

To put these numbers to the test, I tried downloading a 50 GB game from Steam. The download speed fluctuated between average 15 Mbps and a maximum of 30 Mbps, making the entire process painfully slow. Additionally, when attempting to run demanding games like Delta Force and Warzone, the connection barely kept up, resulting in a frustratingly laggy experience like I am being kicked out from the lobby almost instantly and I am cooked.

It's disheartening to find that even basic broadband should be able to handle such tasks more efficiently. It seems that despite the bold claims, U Home 5G falls short. While marketing focuses on fiber-like speeds, the reality is that the service struggles to provide a consistent and reliable experience. This discrepancy raises concerns about the brand’s commitment to delivering quality service to its customers, or rather, the rakyat.

My experience with U Home 5G has been far from satisfactory. The difference between the advertised speeds and actual performance is significant, leaving me disappointed. It serves as a reminder that flashy marketing campaigns don't always reflect the truth of what consumers receive. Moving forward, I hope that service providers will prioritize genuine improvements in their offerings over mere promotional tactics.
