I have resolved to commence a new blog, a modest corner of the internet dedicated to my ruminations and impassioned outbursts. It hath been some time since I truly unleashed my thoughts upon the digital realm, and I possess a number of posts that have been simmering in my mind, yet remain untransferred. Thus, here we find ourselves, plunging into the tumult of my reflections.
To put it mildly, I am exceedingly vexed with the health services. It hath been a year and a half since I first raised my concerns regarding the excruciating pain that afflicts my visage. One might presume that after such a protracted period, someone would take my plight with the seriousness it deserves; alas, this hath not been the case. No medication, no blood tests, no X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs have been administered. Merely an interminable wait and a growing frustration with these so-called physicians in government-funded hospitals, who appear to possess an uncanny ability to disregard my suffering.
The level of ineptitude is truly astonishing. I have endured this facial pain for nearly two years, yet I find myself recounting my tale to indifferent practitioners, many of whom seem incapable of comprehending the gravity of my condition. And let us not even broach the subject of the other medical tribulations I have encountered; it hath taken years merely to secure a referral to a specialist. Such circumstances are sufficient to incite the ire of any reasonable individual.
Certainly, I could elect to pursue private care, yet such a course would require an expenditure of approximately $20—an extravagant sum for one currently unemployed due to my Major Depressive Disorder and schizophrenia, not to mention the delightful addition of epilepsy. Is it not splendid, indeed? To have all these afflictions converge upon me at once, as if life hath conspired to host a grand soirée of misfortune. At times, I ponder whether it is even worth the effort to consult a physician any longer, particularly when my experiences with government-funded healthcare leave much to be desired.
Now, the meager funds I have managed to amass, originally intended for a UPS or perchance a 16GB upgrade for my personal computer, are likely to be diverted to cover the costs of treatment at a private hospital. What a remarkable turn of events! It truly compels one to question the state of our healthcare system, does it not? What on earth are we doing?
